イタリア・ボローニャ大学 Mattia Scalabrin日本は、イタリアのほぼ反対に位置する国ですし、文化も言語も大きく異なります。その違いに惹かれ、ボローニャ大学で東方文化を学ぶ中、実際に自分の目で日本を見たいと思い、学術交流をしている創大に留学しました。浮世絵や歌舞伎、能など、日本の伝統芸術の美しさに非常に感動し、もっと日本を知りたいと関西、東北、沖縄など多くの場所を見て回りました。夜行電車での旅も経験し、大変でしたが忘れられない最高の思い出です。創大では、学生も教授も非常にオープンですし、親切。クラブ活動など、とても活発ですし、一緒に大学祭などを作ったり、互いによく関わり合います。ボローニャ大学で知り合った友人よりも創大で出会った友人の方が多いと思います（笑）。日本のルールや慣習の違いもたくさん経験しました。観光バスに乗った時に、バスガイドさんがしゃべり続け、歌まで歌いだしたときには勘弁してほしいと思いましたが（笑）、年配の方を敬う精神など、私たちが失ってしまったような大切なものも多く発見しました。ボローニャ大学を卒業した後は日本などの東方美術を学びたいと思っています。そして、PhDを取り、教育に関わっていきたいとも思いますし、できればまた日本に来たいとも思っています。日本を離れるまであと２か月、日本語能力検定試験の２級取得を目指し、勉強に取り組み、ここで育んだ世界中の友情を大切にしながら、自分の道を切り開いていきたいと思います。 |

Japan always represented an opposite world for me. Many aspects of its culture are totally different from mine, and Japan has always been a place which I dreamed of. I began to desire seeing Japan and its culture with my eyes while learning about eastern culture in University of Bologna and I came to SOKA University which was one of the academic exchange programs held. I was really impressed by Japanese traditional art, like Ukiyoe (Japanese woodblock prints) and the traditional performing acts of kabuki and Noh. I had many opportunities to travel around Japan, to experience many trips that became wonderful memories. Students and professors of SOKA University are open and kind. In this campus, students are involved in many activities where they can use their own creativity. I made many friends while experiencing Japanese rules and customs, still there are many things not clear to me. To give an example while going on a bus tour an incomprehensible thing happened to me. The guide continued speaking the whole time of the tour. I understood she was explaining about the area or the history but she ended up singing a local song to us and we even sang karaoke. This put on clear light the organization of Japanese system and the dedication Japanese people are so much characterized with. Here I was able to find important things, which in some Eastern countries has been lost; in Japan is highly felt the weight of respect that must be given to elders. Nowadays we almost lost that value. I’m now planning of studying eastern art after I graduate University of Bologna. About my future I wish to take a PhD, and I’d like to keep my interest in Japan with the possibility of coming again for study more. Until the day I will have to leave here, I’ll work hard to improve my Japanese language skills and I’ll keep these wonderful experiences in my heart. |

ロシア・モスクワ大学 Egor Bocharov私が創価大学で学びたいと思ったのは、モスクワ大学で日本語を教えてくれた故・ストリジャック先生の影響でした。ストリジャック先生は、創大創立者の池田先生がソ連（当時）を訪問された際に通訳を担当し、授業の中でも、しばしば池田先生の話を懐かしそうに、また熱心にされていました。ある時、ストリジャック先生から、「池田先生はソ連を訪問された際に、“私たちのイデオロギーとは人間主義です”と言われた」との話を伺い、人間主義とはどういうものかを知りたいと思うようになりました。念願だった創大で学んで９ヶ月。“学生のための大学”とありますが、本当にその通りだというのが私の印象でした。授業でも、生活の場でも、教授をはじめ皆が全力で私たち学生をサポートしてくれます。そして、創大の教育には、人間主義の価値観が流れ通っています。生命の大切さや人間の尊厳、何のために学ぶのか、いかに生きていくのか、そうした本質的な事柄を自然に教えてくれます。非常に大切なことであり、感銘を受けました。様々な国から来た留学生と交流ができることもすばらしいことです。国と国のレベルではうまくいかないこともありますが、結局は人です。ここで築いた友情を大切にし続けていきたいと思いますし、皆でまたそれぞれの国で会おうとも話しています。将来は、この経験、そして語学力を活かし、外交官として活躍できたらと思っています。 |

| The reason why I thought I wanted to study at SOKA University was the thing my home University Japanese language teacher, late Professor Strizhak, told us one day. He acted an interpreter when SOKA University founder, Dr. Ikeda, came to the Soviet Union and he often spoke nostalgically and keenly of Dr. Ikeda. One day he told us that during his visit to the USSR, Dr. Ikeda was always repeating the same words that seemed to be very important for him “Our most fundamental ideology is humanism.” Since then, I made up my mind to learn, what the ideology is. 9 months passed since I came here. SOKA University claims itself to be “the university for students” and I can safely say it is really so .Both in class and in everyday life in this campus, both professors and the stuff heartily support us, the exchange students, helping us to really feel the value of humanism in the SOKA education, the value of life and human dignity. What do we learn for? What do we live for? You understand essential things like these naturally here. I think it’s really important and that is why I was so much inspired by the SOKA style of education. Also, a chance to meet students from all over the world is priceless for me. There are things that just don’t work among countries, but here I understood that these are people, who are important, as all of us are just human beings in the first place. I will definitely try to do my best to keep in touch with my new friends from all over the world. In the future I would like to try a diplomatic career, and I hope my language skills and the priceless experience of being the SOKA student will help me to succeed. |

ガーナ・ガーナ大学 Heto Prince Paa-kwesiガーナで経済格差の問題を含め、様々なことで悩む友人たちを見ながら育ち、いつしか人々の幸福のために貢献できる自分になりたいと思うようになりました。哲学や教育などの本を読む中で、創価教育学の始祖、牧口常三郎先生を知り、もっと学びたいと創価大学に留学しました。文化の違いに戸惑うこともありますが、すばらしい教育システムであると実感しています。中でも別科の先生方は本当にすばらしいです。励まし続けてくれ、決してギブアップさせません。現在、経済学部のJapan-Asia Studies program（JAS）を受けていますが、英語で日本やアジアの経済を学ぶことができ、自分の知識がステレオタイプであることにも気づきましたし、非常にいいプログラムだと思っています。創大は自然環境もすばらしく、創大祭など、学生たちが自主的に取り組める行事もあります。寮で共に暮らす世界中の友人たちは家族のようだと感じますし、寮のお風呂は最高です（笑）。将来は、PhDを取得し、国連で働きたいと思っています。国連は人類の幸福、世界の平和に寄与できる一つの重要な機関であると信じていますし、自分のエネルギーをそのために注いでいきたいと思っています。 |

| Growing up in Ghana I realized that Ghana has a rich diversity as a nation including a big income gap. There are fabulously rich people and very poor people. Based on this experience I started thinking about what I can do to help humankind. Consequently, I have been reading a lot of books across a wide spectrum of subjects and in course of my read and studies, I read several books on the life and philosophy of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi and I felt that his philosophy when practiced will resolve a lot of the problems in our world today. This is why I opted to study as an exchange student here in Soka University which was established based on the ideas and philosophy of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi. I don’t understand the way some things are done which maybe because of cultural difference but on the whole I will like to say that my experience here is not one that I will like to trade anything for. The natural environment is just wonderful. I have met amazing Professors here who shows a lot of concern for me and always encouraging me not to give up even when the going seems very tough. Apart from studying Japanese, I also have the opportunity to study in the Japan Asia Studies program and these are Economics courses taught in English but the unique part of it is that it brings native students (Japanese) and foreign students together in the same classroom. The student professor ratio is about 10 students to a Professor, so we get to interact with the Professors and other students extensively. The dormitory life is equally awesome because the dormitory culture is such that we relate with each, not as colleague students but as one big family. After school I am hoping to have the opportunity to contribute towards reinventing the United Nation into a vibrant humanistic organization that will be up to the task of fulfill its responsibility to all of humankind. |

スリランカ・ケラニア大学 Imali Ruwanthika Edirisooriya小学生の時に,日本のテレビドラマ「おしん」を毎朝学校に行く前に見ていました。着物や箸、ストーリーなどが自分の文化とはあまりにも違い、夢中で見ていました。その時から、日本への興味がわき、高校で日本語を学びはじめ、大学も日本語を学べる大学にとケラニア大学に進学しました。日本に来て驚いたのは、「おしん」で見た日本とは随分違うことでした（笑）。私は、日本舞踊のクラブで活動していますが、日本の三味線や太鼓の音、ダンスが好きです。そして、創大のキャンパスの四季の美しさも大好きです。私は創大のすべてが好きです。寮生活も本当に楽しい。初めて母国を離れましたが、今までさみしいと思ったことはありません。みんなと料理をしたり、パーティをしたり、本当にたくさんの楽しい思い出を作ることができました。創大祭でのダンスや留学生喫茶、また、その創大祭の時が私の誕生日だったんですが、夜に100人くらいの友人たちが集まって、誕生日のお祝いをしてくれました。最高のサプライズでした。大切な友人、親身になってくれる先生方、そして自分の両親のようにきめ細かに気遣ってくれる創立者の池田先生。夢のような日々だったと思います。まもなく留学期間も終了しますが、いつまでもここで学べたらと思います。今後は、特に日本の文学を研究していきたいと思いますので、いつかまた創価大学で学べたら幸せです。将来は、日本語教師か大使館で働けたらと思っています。がんばります！ |

When I was an elementary school student, every morning before going to school I watched the Japanese drama”OSHIN”. I was really interested in the drama because of the costumes, chopsticks, and the story. After that, I wanted to know more about Japan. I began studying Japanese when I was a high school student and continued studying it at the University of Kelaniya. I was surprised when I came to Japan and saw the big difference between the real Japan and the Japan which I had seen as a child in “OSHIN.” Currently, I’m studying at SOKA University and I belong to the Japanese dance club. I like the sound of shamisen (a three- stringed musical instrument), the drums and the dance style. I like the beautiful scenery all year around on this campus. I love everything here. I’m really enjoying my life in Japan. This is the first time I left my country. Although sometimes I felt lonely, my friends always cheered me up. So far, I have a lot of great memories, such as cooking with friends in the dorm, holding parties and talking to them. I also had the opportunity to dance with the members of the Japanese dance club and to cook with a lot of international friends in the university’s festival. It was an amazing festival and on the same day I was able to celebrate my birthday with more than 100 friends from all over the world. It was the best surprise I could ever have. In Japan I have met precious friends, and the wonderful teachers and the founder of SOKA University, Dr. Ikeda, who is painstakingly concerned about the students here. The time I spent in Japan seems like a dream. The period of studying here ends soon .but I wish I could study here forever. I’d like to deepen my studies on Japanese literature in the future and I would be happy if I could study it in SOKA University. My future goal is to work as a Japanese teacher or at the sri lankan embassy. I’ll strive for it! |

エジプト・カイロ大学 Eman Mostafa Abbas Sherif創価大学で、多くの日本人の友人ができたこと、世界中から来た友人たちと共に暮らしたことが最高の思い出です。エジプトは観光の国でもありますので、世界中の人々が訪れます。でも、その人たちの文化や考え方に触れたのは、今回が初めてのことで、より世界が近くなったように感じます。寮での共通語は日本語。自分の思いや、考えが伝えられた時は嬉しいですね。創価大学は、緑が多く、人も優しく、本当にいい大学。テニス部での活動、創大祭などたくさんの思い出を作ることができました。帰国した時に、やっぱり夢だったんだと気がつくのではないかと思っているほど（笑）。エジプトには、日本の企業が多くあり、アラビア語と日本語の通訳者の需要が高いです。私も通訳として将来活躍できたらと大学で日本語を学び始めました。私が好きな日本語は「平和」です。アラビア語で“平和”は「サラン」。あいさつの時には「サラムアリコム」と言います。これは、“平和をあげる”という言う意味で、“こんにちは”と同様に使われます。夢は、通訳者として社会に、そして平和に貢献できるような自分になることです。 |
