| April 1971 | The University opens with three faculties: Economics, Law and Letters. |
| April 1975 | The Graduate Schools of Economics, Law, and Letters are established. |
| April 1976 | The Faculties of Business Administration and Education are established. The Division of Correspondence Education is established with two faculties: Economics and Law. Institute of the Japanese Language is established. |
| April 1977 | The Graduate Schools of Economics, Law and Letters (doctoral courses) are established. |
| April 1982 | The Faculty of Education is established within the Division of Correspondence. |
| April 1985 | Soka Women’s College is established. |
| April 1986 | The masters course of education is established in the Graduate School of Letters. |
| February 1987 | Soka University of America is established. |
| April 1988 | The Department of Humanities is established in the Faculty of Letters. |
| April 1989 | The doctoral course in education is established in the Graduate School of Letters. |
| April 1990 | The Department of Japanese Language and Literature, and Foreign Languages (Chinese and Russian) are established in the Faculty of Letters. |
| March 1991 | Ikeda Auditorium is completed. (In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the university founding) |
| April 1991 | The Faculty of Engineering (Department of Information Systems Science and Bioengineering) is established. |
| April 1992 | The masters course in humanities is established in the Graduate School of Letters. |
| April 1994 | The doctoral course in humanities is established in the Graduate School of Letters. |
| April 1995 | The Graduate School of Engineering (the masters course in Information systems science and bioengineering) is established. |
| April 1997 | The doctoral course in Information systems science and bioengineering are established in the Graduate School of Engineering. |
| May 1999 | Central Tower completed. (In commemoration of the 30thanniversary of the university founding). |
| April 2003 | The Department of Environmental Engineering for Symbiosis is established in the Faculty of Engineering. |
| April 2004 | Soka Law School is established. |
| April 2007 | The Department of Humanities is established in the Faculty of Letters. The graduate school of Engineering (Departments of Environment Engineering for Symbiosis) is established. |
| April 2008 | The Graduate School of Teacher Education is established. |
| April 2009 | The master course in international language education is established. |
