Soka University actively engages in the placement of its international students, providing an array of support services for those seeking employment in Japan following their graduation.

Career support for international students

In order to support the job hunting activities of international students, Soka University provides assistance through career-oriented classes and interviews. In particular, students that intend to find employment in Japan are required to have a language proficiency of at least Level N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, as well as to understand activities unique to Japan. Soka University offers various career-oriented classes and supports international students in allowing them to open up their future on their own.

Career subjects : Classes offered in the Japanese language

“Basic career design”

(Offered to: Freshmen, sophomores, junior and senior students; number of credits: 2)
This class targets international students that intend to find employment in Japan. Students will learn the basics of job hunting in Japan, self-analysis, and industry research.
 

“Career communication for international students I & II”

(Planned to be offered in 2018; offered to: freshmen, sophomores, junior and senior students; number of credits: 2)
This class targets international students that intend to find employment in Japan. Students will learn the business Japanese required for finding a job and as a businessperson, along with improving communication ability as a businessperson.
 

“Career vision I”

(Offered to: junior and senior students; number of credits: 2)
This class targets third-year international students that intend to find a job in Japan.  Students will prepare the entry sheets and self-promotion sheets required for actual job-hunting activities and will prepare for interviews and group discussions.

“Career development”

(Planned to be offered in 2018; offered to: freshmen and sophomore students; number of credits: 2)
This class targets international students that are enrolled in the programs in which it is possible to graduate from Soka University by taking classes offered in English only. The course details are not limited to working in Japan. Students will consider how to view and develop their college life and career after graduation.
