Libraries

There are four library facilities on the campus serving the various needs of the students and faculty members.

Central Library

A five-story building housing some 1,000,000 books, academic journals and other publications and resources, the library utilizes a state-of-the-art search system with 120 computers available in a user-friendly research and study environment

The Daisaku Ikeda Collection
Incorporated into the Central Library, this collection is comprised of more than 70,000 books donated by the Soka University founder. It contains works on philosophy, history, sociology, natural sciences, art and other academic fields.

Sir William Fraser Library

This is a library of the Faculty of Engineering, with a wide collection of books and periodicals on science and technology.

Law School Library

This library houses a vast collection of judicial studies reference materials for students of the Law School. Open 24 hours throughout the year, it serves many students who are candidates for national bar exams and government service exams.

AV Library of the World Language Center

The primary function of the AV Library is to give students access to a large variety of audio-visual materials not found in other facilities on campus. Other materials are available, including books, magazines, newspapers and dictionaries, but the library mainly houses AV materials for foreign language study, enabling students to practice listening and speaking skills on their own, prepare for tests, or enjoy international TV programs and movies. There are approximately 2,300 compact discs and audio/video cassettes in 43 languages in the library.

Kaho Library of Soka Women’s College

This open-access library houses a collection of 77,000 books, 350 periodicals, 1,700 cassette tapes and CDs, and 3,100 video tapes and DVDs, with an online search system linked to the Central Library database.
