Soka University, located in Tokyo Japan, plans to introduce a new master’s degree program in the field of international relations and peace studies in spring 2018. As all courses of the new program are conducted in English, we seek qualified candidates for three tenure-track full-professor/assistant-professor/lecturer positions. We are open to outstanding candidates specializing in any subfield of international relations and peace studies, but we are particularly interested in candidates whose primary work is in the area of human security, political economy of development, and/or gender studies. The positions will begin officially on April 1, 2018 pending administrative approval by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)-Japan.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. The candidate should have a record of excellent research that has been published or otherwise disseminated in a manner appropriate to career state. Candidates should also have proven ability as excellent teachers at graduate and/or undergraduate level. Knowledge of the Japanese language is preferable, but not required.
