Soka postgrad wins award at int’l polar biology symposium

Soka University bioengineering postgraduate Mitsuko Obata was recognized for her presentation on ice algae fluorescence at the International Symposium on Polar Biology held on December 2-5 that was organized by the National Institute of Polar Research.

Ms. Obata’s presentation, “PSII electron transport and quenching of chlorophyll fluorescence of ice algal community in Saroma-ko Lagoon, Hokkaido,” was selected as the best among young researchers that included university lecturers, assistant professors and postdoctoral students.

Ms. Obata was one of two researchers honored. She also won the award for best presentation for her work at last year’s symposium.
