Representatives from the Chinese embassy in Tokyo and Soka University met on campus on April 5 to celebrate the blooming Japanese cherry tree that honors Zhou En-Lai, former premier of China. The tree was planted by Chinese exchange students at Soka in 1976, the year after Soka University founder Daisaku Ikeda met with Premier Zhou in China. Held under the auspices of the university’s Chinese studies group, the viewing ceremony included performances of traditional Japanese dance and music. |
