2009.05.21
As reported in the media, the first case of Influenza A (H1N1) virus was confirmed in Hachioji on May 20, 2009. There are currently no measures being taken to cancel classes. However, we ask that students and faculty check the latest information on the university homepage or portal site.
In order to prevent further outbreak of the virus, we ask everyone to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently and gargle. We are distributing masks at the entrance of each campus building for your use.
Please refrain from going out for seven days upon returning and check your body temperature everyday. If you develop flu-like symptoms (such as fever of over 37.5 degrees centigrade, coughing/sneezing, diarrhea, etc.), please seek treatment at a designated medical institute and call:
Hachioji Health Center
Tel: 042-645-5111 (daytime only)
or:
Tokyo Hatsunetsu Soudan Center (Consultation Services for People with Fevers)
Tel: 03-5320-4509 (night time and weekends/holidays)
We also ask the family members of infected patients to take possible measures to prevent infection.
Please refrain from making nonessential trips/visits to affected countries/areas. If you must, please consult the university administration (Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Career Support, International Affairs, Correspondence Education Division, Soka Women’s College, University Health Center, etc.).
*Depending on how the outbreak evolves, other measures such as class cancellation may take place. We therefore ask all students and faculty to stay informed of the latest reports.
