A team of Soka University students won first place in the 12th university-level Economics Record Examination (ERE) organized by a national association of economics education. The victory was the fifth consecutive year for Soka, edging out Waseda University’s previous record of four straight wins.
Held on December 6, 2009, the competition pitted 123 students comprising 17 teams from 11 universities against one another. ERE gauges the expertise of economics undergraduates in micro- and macroeconomic concepts and applications.
Soka’s eight-member team was led by Ken Kojima, a fourth-year economics major, who also scored the highest points as an individual contestant.
