The Soka University baseball team became champions of the New Tokyo University Baseball League when it defeated Tokyo International University 2-0 on May 16. The league is comprised of 24 universities in the greater Tokyo area.

With the win, Soka earned the right to play next month in a grand tournament hosted by the All-Japan University Baseball Federation, in which a total of 26 winners of university leagues throughout Japan will compete for the national championship.
