Renowned Chinese erhu musicians perform at Soka

Chinese musician Wang Gutong and his son, Ray Wong, both renowned artists of the traditional two-stringed erhu, performed at a free outdoor concert for the students of Soka University on Friday. The musicians were in Japan on a nationwide tour.

Wang Gutong, 71, not only has a repertoire of hundreds of erhu scores, but also composed numerous original pieces as well, performing in over 30 countries to date. His son, now based in Hong Kong, is an equally active recitalist and has conducted orchestras in China, Korea, Hong Kong and other countries.
