The administration and faculties of Soka University and Soka Women’s College donated 1.87 million yen to The Consortium of Universities in Hachoji, a nonprofit association of 23 academic institutions, public agencies, private industry and 110,000 students.
Yasunori Tashiro, Chair of Soka University’s Board of Trustees, presented the money to the consortium and said the donation, while modest, represented the united sympathy and support for the victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
Established in 2010, the consortium is a collaborative venture of academic and public institutions, together with the private sector for the advancement of education, science, technology and the local Hachoji community.
