The language of instruction at Soka University is Japanese in most courses. Those who wish to study at undergraduate and/or graduate schools of Soka University are, therefore, required to have sufficient Japanese language proficiency to understand lectures in Japanese. Moreover, as texts written in English are used in many lectures, English language reading and writing ability is also required.
A one-year intensive Japanese language program (more commonly referred to as “Bekka”) is offered for those with insufficient Japanese language ability.
Those who already have sufficient Japanese ability are eligible for entrance examinations for international students in undergraduate and graduate school programs.
