Students’ Presentations on Human Rights
The presentations on this page have been created by the first cohort of masters students in the Graduate School of International Peace Studies, in response to an assignment given to them in the Philosophy and Human Rights course taught by Dr. Tracey Nicholls.
The assignment was to prepare a presentation in which the student introduces us to a particular human right or moral concern related to his or her research interests, and then discuss the history and ongoing work of a non-governmental organization (NGO) or social movement that is addressing that human rights activism. The purpose of the assignment was to underscore an ongoing concern of the Philosophy and Human Rights course: how to translate abstract ideals and social justice rhetoric into concrete action that makes the world fairer and more hospitable for all of us.
