President of the University Council Noranit Setabutr of Thailand’s Thammasat University Visits Soka University

    On July 18 (Monday), President of the University Council Noranit Setabutr of Thammasat University of Thailand visited Soka University and met with Board of Trustees Chair Yasunori Tashiro and President Yoshihisa Baba at the Main Building.

    Thammasat University was founded in 1934 and is the second-oldest university in Thailand. With 17 faculties, including the faculties of law, economics, liberal arts, and medicine, along with a graduate school, approximately 30,000 students study at four campuses, including the one in Bangkok. 

    Since 1985 when Soka University and Thammasat University tied an academic exchange agreement, exchanges have been promoted to as many as 100 students and faculty members. In June this year, the “Soka University Thailand Office,” an overseas base for Soka University, was established within Thammasat University’s faculty of liberal arts building.

    President of the University Council Noranit Setabutr shared how delighted he was to visit the beautiful Soka University campus. He also shared that through many years of exchanges between Thammasat University and Soka University, many capable individuals active in various fields in both nations have been fostered, and that exchanges of young people, who will build the future, are crucial for world peace. He also shared his expectations that further exchanges be promoted based on the said Soka University Thailand office that was established in Thammasat University’s faculty of liberal arts building.
