Papers by Professors Junichi Kanzaka and Manabu Asai of the Faculty of Economics Published Overseas

    A paper written by Professor Junichi Kanzaka of the Faculty of Economics, titled “The Development of Civil Engineering Projects and Village Communities in Seventeenth-to Nineteenth-Century Japan,” appeared in Public Goods Provision in the Early Modern Economy: Comparative Perspectives from Japan, China, and Europe, which was published by the University of California Press (in January 2019).

    Also, in the past year, three papers by Professor Manabu Asai of the Faculty of Economics appeared in the following academic magazines: Journal of Time Series Econometrics*1 Econometrics and Statistics,*2 and Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation.*3

    Associate Professor Shelton Peiris, who is conducting joint research with Professor Asai, gave a lecture in 2015 at Soka University in a Faculty of Economics class as a visiting professor. Professor Peiris shared that the passion and creativity shown by the Soka faculties as well as the students, who are extremely passionate about learning, left him with a strong impression. He also shared his expectations for Soka University’s continued development.

    *2 Econometrics and Statistics is an internationally recognized academic magazine focusing on econometrics and statistic studies. It has been published by Netherland’s Elsevier from 2017.
    *3 Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation is an academic magazine first published in 1972 and focuses on using theories and methods related to computer calculation in statistical data. It is published by United Kingdom’s Taylor & Francis.
