【To students and guardians】“Emergency Support Benefit” in response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your sincere cooperation and full understanding of the on-going academic activities.
The Japanese Government declared a "State of Emergency" based on the Act on Special Measures against the Novel Influenza etc. on April 7th. In order to continue providing the students the opportunity to learn, we have started classes online from April 20th (some classes started on April 13th, Soka Women's College on April 6th). Initially, we were planning to resume in-person classes from May 11th, however, due to the situation in society, we decided to conduct all classes online throughout the spring semester (announced on April 22nd).

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the students and their parents and guardians who are making the best efforts to prepare for the changes in the semester despite the difficulties in the economy. For our students to continue their studies, we have decided to provide an emergency support benefit of 50,000 yen to all Soka University students as a support for preparing the environment to take online classes and to sustain their living. In addition, we will implement other financial support such as an “extension on tuition fees”  in response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
We are considering further support in our student’s learning and student life. As soon as the decisions are finalized, we will inform you through the University website and student portal site.
The difficult situation may continue, however, Soka University will continue to further enhance the education and learning at the university with students’ health and safety as a first priority.
