Footage of “PLANE3T Project - Living Amid a Gigantic Lake in Africa” Publicly Released!

Footage of the “PLANET3T Project,” which is a Soka University Research Branding Project and an international joint research project with Ethiopia, Africa that began in 2017, was publicly released.

At Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia, a large amount of non-native aquatic plants have proliferated over a maximum area of 500 km2. The PLANE3T Project aims to build a “Recycling Society” by harvesting energy and nutrition from water hyacinths for the benefit of people’s daily lives.

This project not only involves technological development (via the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Institute of Plankton Eco-engineering) but also includes the marketing of the products derived from water hyacinth (via the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration) as well as environmental education in Ethiopia (via the Faculty of Education), bringing out the strength of a comprehensive university.
