September Graduation Ceremony for the Academic Year 2021 was Held

    On Saturday, September 11th, Soka University and Soka Women’s College held the September graduation ceremony for the academic year 2021 at Discovery Hall in Global Square.  At the ceremony, 2 students were awarded doctoral degrees, 18 students were awarded master’s degrees, 45 undergraduates received bachelor’s degrees, and 6 Soka Women’s College students received associate degrees.

    Since 2003, in addition to the regular March graduation ceremony, Soka University has been holding a September graduation ceremony.
    Thorough countermeasures were implemented to avoid the spread of the virus, and the ceremony was shared online with parents and guardians.

    At the start of the ceremony, a commemorative performance of “Mother,” was given by Associate Professor Hiromi Adachi of the Faculty of Education. This was followed by an opening address by Professor Noboru Mizumoto, President of Soka Women's College.
    Next, Board of Trustees Chair Yasunori Tashiro read the founder Dr. Daisaku Ikeda’s message.
    The founder, praised the struggles overcome during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying "May you the Soka University and Soka Women’s College students soaring out into the world today strive with irrepressible optimism and the never-give-up spirit to transform every challenge faced into opportunities to create value through wisdom, and to elicit the unlimited potential of youth to fulfil each of your noble missions."

    Afterwards, Mr. Phuyal Mohan (Ph.D. student, Graduate School of Economics, Department of Economics,) gave the commencement speech representing all the graduates.
    Finally, President Yoshihisa Baba gave this encouraging message to the graduates, "I believe that each graduate has built a solid foundation for life even amid the unprecedented difficulties of the corona pandemic, you have spearheaded initiatives and have fully dedicated yourselves to pursuing your studies, developing language skills, and engaging in extracurricular activities, establishing a foundation as creative global citizens which is the goal of the University.
    There may be those who are worried about going out into society, however, I hope that you set sail toward your respective fields with the confidence that you have built a solid foundation at Soka University”.
