A paper co-authored by a Faculty of Economics Associate Professor was published in an international academic journal

Associate Professor Shun Chonabayashi’s co-authored paper "Large-scale land restoration improved drought resilience in Ethiopia's degraded watersheds" was published in the Nature Sustainability academic journal.

The paper provides evidence that sustainable land management projects are effective in restoring land productivity and resilience to adverse weather events such as droughts and demonstrates the use of remote sensing technologies to assess the impact of ecosystem restoration projects.

Associate Professor Chonabayashi commented, "Today, as the cost and risk of collecting household survey data increases due to COVID-19, the importance of using remote sensing data to assess the impact of development projects is increasing. I would like to further develop this kind of international joint research and contribute to the building of a sustainable society."

Note: Nature Sustainability is published by Springer Nature Ltd. in the United Kingdom.

The journal examines issues related to water, air, and soil pollution; agriculture and food security; the water-energy-land nexus; the water-soil-waste nexus; climate change; land-use change; natural resource decline; waste; circular economy; ecosystem services; biodiversity conservation; natural capital; development policy; environmental policy; environmental degradation; sustainable energy; urbanization; demographics; poverty alleviation; public health; sustainable consumption; sustainable cities; sustainable supply chains, green infrastructure; technological innovation; etc. (translation of an excerpt from https://www.natureasia.com/ja-jp/natsustain).
