The 2022 Board of Directors and General Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) was held in Poland

    The 2022 Board of Directors and General Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) was held at the University of Warsaw in Poland, with the participation of Professor Yoshihisa Baba, who serves as President of ASAIHL.

    The association was established in 1956 to contribute to the advancement of education, research, and public service through mutual support of higher education institutions in Southeast Asia. The association was established in 1956 to contribute to the advancement of education, research, and public service through mutual support of higher education institutions in Southeast Asia. 

    Currently, it is an international academic institution with about 230 member universities in 25 countries and regions around the world, including not only Southeast Asia but also Europe and North America. In Japan, in addition to our university, Hiroshima University and other universities are members. 

    Following the Board of Directors meeting on September 25th, more than 100 people from various countries participated in the General Assembly on September 26th, including the Indonesian Ambassador to Poland, the Philippine ambassador, and officials from the Thai embassy. At the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector Grucza of the University of Warsaw gave the opening address, followed by a speech by Professor Baba, President of the Association. Afterward, discussions were held on issues such as cooperation among higher education institutions in the Southeast Asian region through programs implemented in line with the General Assembly theme.
