SOBITS Wins Overall Championship in the Most Difficult League of Robotics Competitions in Japan - "RoboCup Japan Open 2022 @Home OPL" -.

RoboCup Japan Open 2022 @Home" was held from Monday, March 6th to Thursday, March 9th, and SOBITS, consisting of members of the Professor Choi Laboratory of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, won the overall championship in the Open Platform League (OPL), the most difficult league.

The RoboCup Japan Open 2022 aims to combine robotics and artificial intelligence to develop and research autonomous robots that can assist humans in their daily lives. The competition is an opportunity for researchers and engineers to present their cutting-edge innovations and apply the challenges discovered within the competition to future research.

The OPL consists of four competitions in which the robot's ability to communicate naturally with humans is evaluated in addition to its autonomous navigation and object-grasping abilities. In the same competition, the second and third-year undergraduates of SOBITS also took second place in the Education League, a league for beginners.

Team leader Keith Valentin (4th year, Department of Information Systems Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering) commented, "With this win, SOBITS has achieved its second overall OPL championship in a row. In the next competition, we will not be complacent about this result but will clear the issues we found and challenge ourselves every day to win our third OPL championship as a team. In order to repay all those who have supported us, we will compete in the OPL, DSPL, Education League, and Simulation-OPL leagues at the RoboCup Japan Open 2023 @Home in May, and we will also compete in the World RoboCup @ Home, our first challenge. We will do our best to report the best results at the RoboCup Japan Open 2023 @Home in May (OPL, DSPL, Education League, Simulation-OPL) and at the RoboCup@Home League, which will be our first challenge in the world competition," he said.
