Ambassador to the Republic of Angola João Miguel Vahekeni gives special lecture

On May 15, His Excellency João Miguel Vahekeni, Ambassador to the Republic of Angola to Japan, visited Soka University as a guest lecturer of the course “Africa in the 21st Century.” He spoke about Angola and its efforts to rise as a new star of the continent.

The “Africa in the 21st Century” course, which gives a comprehensive perspective on the diverse cultural, political, economic, linguistic and religious landscapes of Africa, is taught by members of Soka University faculty whose field of research encompasses the African region. Ambassadors to various African countries from Japan are also regularly invited as speakers.

In addition to introducing the history of Angola, Ambassador Vahekeni stressed that developing the capacity of young people is vital to the development of his country. He shared his thoughts on putting more effort in the field of education to increase opportunities for Angolan students to study domestically but also abroad. A dynamic Q&A session followed.
