During October 2~7, 2018, Dr. Hirut Assaye, Assistant Professor of Bahir Dar University and Mr. Ayirkm Adugna, Lecturer of Injibara University from Ethiopia visited Soka University as collaborators for the PLANE3T Project. Theme 2 (Research team in charge of Phytoplankton production) of the project was the main host for this occasion.


Dr. Hirut and Mr. Ayirkm have been very committed to get PLANE3T’s research activities in Ethiopian side into gear. Visiting Japan and Soka University for the first time, they took part in each activities (such as touring the campus and laboratories and meetings for further development of the collaborative research) in such an earnest way.
Dr. Hirut also gave a lecture on Ethiopia’s general condition and health-related issues of the public.

Through their 5-day stay (from Welcome dinner to the PLANE3T’s exhibition at the University Festival), many Soka students got opportunity to interact with and learn lessons from the young researchers from Ethiopia.
