Collection of conversations between Daisaku Ikeda and AJ Toynbee
40th anniversary of publication

On September 23, 1969, Dr. Arnold J. Toynbee, a world-renowned historian, sent an airmail to Honorary Chairman Daisaku Ikeda (then chairman). "I would like to have a dialogue about the fundamental problems facing humanity." The dialogue took place at Dr. Toynbee's home in London from 1972 to the following year, and lasted for 10 days and 40 hours. Nuclear issues, environmental issues, population explosion, the role of world religions... The dialogue, which covered a wide range of topics from the problems facing modern society to the future of global civilization, was compiled into a collection of dialogues, "Dialogue for the 21st Century." The book has been translated into 28 languages to date. Even now, 40 years after its publication, it is still widely read, and many experts around the world have come to know Honorary Chairman Ikeda through this collection of dialogues.
