Schooling is also available for online classes. Since it is in real time, you can ask questions directly to the teacher during the lecture and communicate with other students in group discussions. In addition, there is a wide range of on-demand schooling (video lectures), so you can study anytime, anywhere!

Wanting to spend the extra time I have due to the COVID-19 pandemic meaningfully, I enrolled in Soudai Tsukyo, which allows me to study while working. Online learning allows me to study in a way that suits my lifestyle, regardless of time or place. I am also attracted to the discussions I have with alumni who are all highly motivated and come from all over the world. I hope to use my Level 3 Financial Planner qualification to help my colleagues and precious family live richer lives.

Inheriting the last wish of his son, who died at the age of 34 while working for a company in Malaysia, to "become a bridge between the world," he entered Soka University College of Education at the age of 66 with the aim of becoming a Japanese language teacher. During his time at the university, he was dispatched to a high school in Indonesia as a Japanese Language Partner of the Japan Foundation, where he gained valuable experience such as supporting Japanese language classes and conveying Japanese culture. In the future, as a Japanese language teacher, he would like to contribute to world peace by devoting himself to nurturing human resources who can become a bridge between Japan and his own country.

I'm learning while using my time well!
After graduating from a correspondence high school, I enrolled in Soka University correspondence education with my childhood friend Matsumori-kun (pictured left). Since I have been familiar with online learning since high school, I have been able to progress smoothly in my studies at university. In addition, I am able to study for qualification exams, work part-time, and do what I want to do in my free time, making the most of the benefits of correspondence education!

- QIs there an entrance exam?

There is no entrance exam. Admissions will be assessed based on a document screening of your application documents.
Applicants for Faculty of Education Department of Primary Education Child Education License Course will be screened through an essay. - QCan I graduate by studying only online?
- A
It is possible to graduate by studying exclusively online without attending university*.
We have created a learning environment where students can take online classes (real-time classes via Zoom and on-demand recorded classes), write and submit reports, and take subject exams.
*Some subjects, such as those related to obtaining a teaching license, require face-to-face classes. - QI am worried about whether I can continue my studies.

Our comprehensive learning support will eliminate any concerns you may have about self-study distance learning.
We are holding individual study plan consultations and individual course consultations using Zoom, and if you have any questions about your studies, you can chat with faculty members on a dedicated portal site.
There are also opportunities for students to interact directly with each other, such as face-to-face classes and student organizations (Koyukai) established in each prefecture, allowing students to learn while encouraging each other. - QI'm not good at writing sentences, is there any support available?

For every report assignment, there is a "Report Assignment Explanation" by the teacher in charge, which explains key points for writing the report, so you can use the detailed explanation as you write your report.
In addition, "report writing lectures" are held in which full-time faculty members and instructors from Distance Learning Division give lectures on how to write reports, divided into four types (levels), and students can learn everything from the basics to advanced applications of report writing.
It is also possible to attend the course via recorded video or to consult via Zoom. - Q: Do I have to be a Soka Gakkai member to enroll?

Anyone can enroll, regardless of their religious affiliation or sect. The university does not investigate or control the religious beliefs of individual students.
In addition, Soka University does not have a faculty of theology or faculty of Buddhist studies like religious universities, and students do not study any particular faith in their classes.
At Soka University's Distance Learning Division, students of various nationalities, values, ages, and occupations from all over Japan and around the world gather to study. - Q Can I study just one or a few subjects?

We have set up a "Subject-specific Course" course where you can select any subject you want to study or are interested in (from one subject to a maximum of 30 credits) from among more than 250 subjects offered. The "SOKA Select Pack" is a package of three related subjects for each of 12 themes, such as "Learning the Founding Spirit" and "To Become a More Brilliant Woman."
