Soka University Students Won a Prize at the Japan Representative Selection for the 2021 MOS World Championship (PowerPoint Category)

On August 6 (Friday), the award ceremony of the Japan Representative Selection for the 2021 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship took place online where Ms. Renka Yamabe, a junior in the Faculty of International Liberal Arts, won a prize in the PowerPoint category.

The competition is a world-scale personal computer contest for students who are high schoolers or older. It aims to help students gain the necessary skills to work in society through MOS and be raised as capable people who can play active roles internationally. This was the 19th contest where more than 17,000 students applied from across Japan. Approximately 60 students were awarded from the Excel, Word, and PowerPoint categories, and 4 representatives were selected to represent Japan.

Ms. Yamabe, who won a prize, shared, “Last year, I received communication from the Career Center and took the MOS classes. After taking the exam for Excel and PowerPoint, the sponsor invited me to apply for the main contest after seeing my results, and I was able to participate in this contest for selection. While I made it to the final selection, I was not selected as a representative for Japan, but thanks to the support of many people including my parents, I was able to challenge myself to create value amid the trials of this pandemic, so I am filled with appreciation.”
