Masashi Suzuki the new President of Soka University, April 1st, 2022
Soka University has appointed Masashi Suzuki as President, following the expiration of the term of former President Yoshihisa Baba, who has served as President since 2013. President Suzuki's term of office will last for three years until March 31, 2025.
President Suzuki has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Soka University and as Vice President since 2020. During that time, he has promoted quality assurance initiatives for various activities of the university, including educational and research activities, as the chairman of the university-wide self-assessment committee.
President Suzuki stated, "Inheriting the philosophy and tradition of the "Student First spirit," I am committed to following the four areas of "Education," "Research," "SDGs," and "Diversity," in order to realize the vision of "a university that fosters global citizens who practice value creation," as stated in the mid to long-term plan "Soka University Grand Design 2021-2030". We will continue to work on education and research to develop the potential of each student on our diverse campus, and produce many "global citizens" who have the ability to continuously learn and contribute to the well-being of others in response to various changes". Former President Yoshihisa Baba has been appointed as an advisor.
