Short-term Language Program at the University of Nairobi, Kenya

Sixteen students participated in a three-week short-term language program at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, from February 7th to February 25th, organized by the International Affairs Office of Soka University.
During the program, the students studied environmental law, Swahili, and other subjects through discussions and activities with students from the University of Nairobi. They also observed wildlife in Nairobi National Park, interacted with children living in an orphanage, made a courtesy visit to the United Nations, and toured the Kisumu region where Lake Victoria is located.

Here are some comments from students.
    • Through the interaction with the Kenyan people, I was able to experience a foreign culture firsthand, an experience that I would not have been able to learn if I had only stayed in Japan. I would like to make the most of this experience and further deepen my learning. (Fourth-year student, Faculty of Law)
    • I spent time with local students and experienced firsthand the kindness of the Kenyan people. It was an experience that I could not have had in Japan, and it completely changed my way of thinking. (First-year student, Faculty of Economics)
    • I saw firsthand the lifestyle of the local people and felt grateful to be able to study in such a privileged environment. I also had frequent exchanges with students from the University of Nairobi, and was able to form deep friendships with them. It was an unforgettable experience that I will never forget. (Second-year student, Faculty of Letters)
