On behalf of the entire community of Soka University of America (SUA), my sincerest congratulations on the 50th anniversary of Soka University’s founding in Hachioji, Japan.
As institutions of higher education founded by Daisaku Ikeda, our collaboration across oceans create a wonderful synergy of Soka education around the world. We have learned greatly from your history spanning over five decades. For the past 19 years, SUA students have had the opportunity to study Japanese at Soka University as part of their study abroad experiences, deepening their understanding of Soka education. Similarly, we welcomed many students from Soka University and Soka Women’s College for our summer English language programs. We also had great support from Soka University’s leadership serving as members of SUA’s Board of Trustees. We are truly appreciative of the support from the many institutions founded by the university founder, especially Soka University, Japan.
May 3, 2021 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the Soka University of America, Aliso Viejo campus. We launched our year-long 20th anniversary project under the theme, “Soka Global Citizens: Embodying Wisdom, Courage, and Compassion.” Along with the current students, staff and faculty, the projects are focused on highlighting the indispensable contributions of our university founder Daisaku Ikeda, the sincere and generous donors of SUA, and our alumni living out the mission of global citizenship in society. Even though we are virtual, I am confident we will be able to commemorate our 20th anniversary in the most meaningful and appropriate manner.
Once again, congratulations to Soka University on your 50th anniversary! We look forward to our continued collaboration and the future growth and development of Soka University, a citadel of humanism, culture and peace.
