On behalf of the University of Calgary, I would like to offer our congratulations on your 50th anniversary. Our university has enjoyed a relationship with Soka University since 2013, and we are proud to call you a partner. You truly are a world-class university and a leader in creating globally minded citizens.
In the past seven years, 6 students from the University of Calgary have participated in 9 exchange semesters at Soka University and 6 students from Soka University have been hosted by the University of Calgary on 12 exchange semesters. These exchanges have enabled our students to study, engage and experience a new culture and share global knowledge.
This milestone offers a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the history of Soka University and the important contributions it has made. You have worked strategically to position yourself as a global leader, and to be selected for the Top Global University Project initiated by the Japanese government to lead the globalization of Japanese universities. You produce world class leaders and high-level multi-disciplinary programs and research that have benefited many and will continue to do so in the future.
