I would like to express my deepest congratulation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Soka University.
Covid 19 pandemic has stagnated the world economy and globalization and greatly influenced higher education. Higher education faces the deterioration of various issues such as the rapid decrease of younger generation, the fourth industrial revolution and education looking ahead to the post-COVID 19 era is even more expected.
In this social disorder, your university launched “Soka University Ground Design 2021-2030” toward 2030 under the theme “The University fostering “Global Citizens” that will practice value creation”In the new grand design, the university formulated a concrete scheme in the four strategic fields (Education, Research, SDGs, Diversity) and continuously made progress on the innovation.
Your university advances educational innovation. For example, in the last April, the university reorganized “ Bioinformatics'' into “Biosciences” in the school of science and engineering and work on education and research on the four multidisciplinary fields (Biomolecular Sciences, Cellular Biosciences, Bioinformation Sciences, Functional Biosciences). Also, your university was selected by “the Top Global University Project '' of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and has promoted the acceptance of overseas students and researchers with the implementation of the collaboration programs using its global networks with 63 countries.
The driving force of the innovation of your university is signified by the founding principles “Be the highest seat of learning for humanistic education, Be the cradle of a new culture, Be a fortress for the peace of humankind.” I would like to express my respect for your faculty and staff that continuously make endeavors with a strong sense of mission and passion aiming to achieve the university for students and embodying this founding principle.
Based on the brilliant tradition, I wish Soka University further prosperity and contribution to the development of higher education and human society.
