Career and Academic Directions

As of March 2019, 153 students from the 1st to 6th intakes of GCP have graduated from Soka University. Leveraging the career formation skills, the high level of language abilities, and the specialized expertise they honed in the Program Seminars and tutorials, these students have chosen the best path for each of them to pursue, including: graduate school in Japan and overseas, public service, and employment in private-sector companies.

Graduate school

Students have gone on to elite graduate schools in Japan and overseas. Two students from the inaugural GCP intake have since obtained their doctorates.
To date, GCP students have enrolled in graduate school at Johns Hopkins University, University of Oxford, the University of Sydney, the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Hokkaido University, Hiroshima University, and Soka University.

Public service

Every year, GCP students have passed the public service examinations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has one of the most rigorous selection processes, and for ordinance-designated city public service exams.
The program has so far produced seven diplomats and many other public servants.

Corporate employment

GCP students have obtained employment offers from the following global corporations, which are notoriously difficult to get into:
Goldman Sachs Japan; PwC Consulting LLC; Accenture; IBM Japan; MUFG Bank, Ltd.; Mitsui & Co., Ltd.; Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.; Panasonic Corporation; Hitachi, Ltd.
