Giving presentation about SATREPS-EARTH in symposium held by Institute of Plankton Eco-engineering

   On March 13th, 2023, a symposium was held by the Institute of Plankton Eco-engineering under the theme of “Toward sustainable environmental restoration based on microbial technologies” at Soka University. 35 professors and students participated in this symposium.

   In this symposium, Professor Dr. TODA Tatsuki, dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Dr. AKIZUKI Shinishi from the Institute of Plankton Eco-engineering made a speech and a presentation related to the SATREPS-EARTH project. Professor Dr. TODA gave a keynote speech with the theme of “Strategic Interdisciplinary Partnerships through SATREPS Projects with Asian and African Countries”, and explained the SATREPS-COSMOS project closed in 2021 and the SATREPS-EARTH project launched in 2021. Dr. AKIZUKI reported the progress of the SATREPS-EARTH project with the theme of “Overview and current status of SATREPS-EARTH project with Ethiopia: focus on the development of high-rate anaerobic digestion technology for water hyacinth juice treatment”.

   In addition to them, Professor Germán Cuevas Rodríguez from the University of Guanajuato, and Professor Pabel Antonio Cervantes Avilés from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico, Assistant Professor KOYAMA Mitsuhiko from Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Ms. Stella CHAN from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Soka University made presentations with Q&A sessions. In the Q&A sessions, they exchanged their ideas based on the question by Professor Rodríguez.
