According to last year’s class survey, more than 80 percent of the surveyed courses (1,513 of the 1,868 courses) provided opportunities for active learning. This result indicates that Soka faculty members are highly motivated to improve their teaching. In this program, we provide several days advanced training in educational skills. We also internally develop training programs[A1] . This type of training serves as an incentive for highly motivated teachers and facilitates reforms. Specifically, we hold an AL workshop designed for the entire faculty to learn how to help students understand what they learn in class, and motivate themselves by taking advantage of what they learn outside of class. This is an all-day workshop[A2] and held for five days (30 hours). Faculty members are expected to attend the workshop for at least two days.
