Efforts by Faculty of Business Administration

Soka University has eight faculties, including the Faculty of International Liberal Arts established this year. All faculties have been working on educational reforms, including restructuring, according to their own needs, and they need a leading reform model. We have chosen the Faculty of Business Administration as the leading model because it has implemented progressive AL efforts as presented in Kawaijuku’s publication before, and thus it is expected to offer advanced AL in the Specialized Course Clusters system. As shown below, the faculty adopts the assessment courses which are designed to ensure that the AL approach effectively functions while introducing assessment, thereby enabling the direct evaluation of learning outcomes. The other faculties will have trial and preparation periods, and in 2017 the university-wide curriculum review was launched so that AL and assessment will be adopted in stages by all faculties (except for the Division of Correspondence Education) in 2018.
