Holding of a Conferral Ceremony for the Soka University International Study Scholarship

On December 6 (Friday), at Soka University’s S202 Classroom, a conferral ceremony took place for the Soka University International Study Scholarship for exchange and approved students and students studying a language for a semester at overseas sister relationship schools from January to March 2020. Through this exchange and approved program, 36 students will study at universities in the nine countries of South Korea, China, Taiwan, Australia, Denmark, Austria, Russia, Brazil, and Bolivia.

At the conferral ceremony, after greetings shared by Dean of International Affairs Masaru Osanai, student representatives shared their determinations.
Mr. Koji Nishikawa, a junior in the Faculty of Letters, said: “I will study abroad at China’s Beijing Normal University. Through activities at the China Research Club and by participating in the delegation to China, I became interested in the Japan-China relationship. While studying abroad, I will study the Chinese language and polish my language skills by interacting with the Chinese people. I will make efforts so that, in the future, I can contribute to the friendship between Japan and China.”

After this, scholarship certificates were conferred by Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Yasunori Tashiro, who cheered the awardees by saying: “Your seniors have studied in various countries and are significantly growing by engaging in various activities not only at the university but by also conducting activities in various countries and communities. I am sure that there are challenges, but please use such as fuel for growth and challenge yourself each day.”

Lastly, President Yoshihisa Baba stated: “Studying abroad is a major experience that can transform your life. Please study hard and engage in various activities, and create deep bonds of friendship with many people.”
