Regarding cancellation of the 50th Soka University and 36th Soka Women’s College Entrance Ceremony due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

In consideration of the recent situation of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Japan, from the point of view of stopping the spread of the virus, the government has advised against big gatherings. In line with this, Soka University and Soka Women’s College have made the decision to cancel the 50th Soka University and the 36th Soka Women’s College Entrance Ceremony scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

The university established the “Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Measures Committee” and made the decision to cancel the entrance ceremony after thorough discussions, to protect the health of our students, their families, the local community, and other members related to Soka University. We are aware that the students, their families, and friends, as well as many others, have been looking forward to celebrating this significant new departure, and the turn of events deeply saddens us. However, we would appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

In addition, depending on the circumstances and directives from the government, there is a possibility that there may be changes in the schedule of the orientations and classes. Further information will be available on the university website, so we would request you to please check it occasionally.
