From Wednesday October 14th – Thursday December 24th, the annual 31st Soka Art Exhibition is being held online. The art works of students, kindergarteners, and faculty and staff attending Soka University, Soka Women’s College, Tokyo and Kansai Soka Schools (Elementary, Junior, and High school), Sapporo Soka Kindergarten are on display.

In 1990, the first exhibition started in Soka Women’s College Hakuchou Gymnasium and from the second exhibition it was moved to Soka University Ikeda Auditorium. The seventh exhibition also became a “travelling exhibition” travelling to many parts of Japan and this year marks 31 years since the first exhibition. This year’s exhibition, 489 arts works, was decided to be held for the first time online because of the spread of COVID-19 throughout Japan.

Rino Taguchi (Faculty of Letters/ 3rd year), Chairperson of the Soka Art Exhibition stated, “With the unfortunate situation that is happening around the world, this year’s exhibition is being held online. Even though there were no past history of this exhibition being held online and with the great efforts of everyone in the committee, we came together wanting to give courage and hope through our artwork. We hope a lot of people will visit our online exhibition. “
