On April 25 (Sunday) and 26 (Monday), two students on the baseball team living in the university baseball team’s dormitory tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). After consulting with the public health center, PCR tests were conducted on a total of 52 students living in the dormitory and team members. As a result, 24 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed as of today. Most of the infected people have mild symptoms and are put into quarantine until further instructions from the public health center. Arrangements are being made for the remaining club and team members to take the PCR test.

In cooperation with the public health center, the university had a specialized company disinfect the dormitory, and took measures to contain the virus such as dispersing the infected to designated rooms and quarantined the positive tested team members. In addition, all students residing in the dormitory have been switched to online classes and have been restricted from going out. The activities of the team have been suspended since April 26. As a result, we have decided not to participate in the ongoing New Tokyo University Baseball League Spring League games. At this time, it has been determined that none of the general students or faculty members on campus, except for those in the dormitory, have been in close contact with the baseball team members who tested positive.

We will continue to work in cooperation with the public health center to deal with the situation and will strive to take infection control measures based on the university's guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
