Mr. Yoshihide Miura, a second-year student majoring in Information Systems Science at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Soka University (Atsumi seminar), received a Student Encouragement Award for his research paper presentation from “The 84th National Convention of IPSJ ~Changing Society and Information Processing~.”

The Information Processing Society of Japan is an academic society consisting of about 20,000 members, whose purpose is to promote learning and technologies related to information processing, centered around computers and communication. A national convention is held once a year, and this year, it was held online from March 3rd to 5th.

The title of Mr. Miura’s research paper was, “Evaluation of Data Enhancement by Automatic Generation of Sentiment Polarities and Targets Through ABSA (Aspect Based Sentiment Analysis).” It is about analyzing comments written on review sites and social networks, finding out the contents, and figuring out if the comments are positive or negative by using artificial intelligence. The purpose of this paper was to automatically generate the data necessary for the AI to learn.

Mr. Miura showed his gratitude as follows. “In my graduate years, the research environment was not of satisfactory level during the coronavirus pandemic. I could not have received this award without the help of Professor Atsumi, my advisor, and my friends, seniors, and juniors from the same laboratory. I am very honored to have received a Student Encouragement Award for the conference presentation that can be said the culmination of all my research in my master’s program.”
