Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation International Students Scholarship Award Ceremony was held

The award ceremony for this year's Soka University Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation’s International Student Scholarship was held on Wednesday, October 19th in Global Square.

This scholarship was established with the support of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation Association to support international students who have financial difficulties studying in Bekka (a non-degree program), at the undergraduate, and graduate levels. Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Yasunori Tashiro gave an opening address, saying, "I hope you will study hard together with your fellow students and hone your skills so that you can contribute to society and peace in the future."

Following the awarding of the certificates, an international student representative expressed their aspirations. Cheah Yu Ern (a 4th-year economics student) from Malaysia said, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who is supporting me to learn to my fullest potential without worrying about my finances. Thanks to this scholarship, I am able to achieve the goals that I thought were impossible. I will continue my studies."

Mikiya Takanashi, President of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation, said, "Through your studies and research at Soka University, you are an important person with a mission to contribute to the happiness of mankind and world peace. Please take care of your health, study hard, and strive to achieve your goals."

In closing, President Masashi Suzuki said, "Soka University attracts international students from various countries and regions, making it a campus full of diversity. I hope that you will continue to make the most of this environment, experience diverse values, talk with your peers, hone your skills together, and grow as a person."
