Autumn 2022 Graduation Ceremony Held for International Students—61 Exchange Students from 20 Countries/Regions Graduate

61 international exchange students from 20 countries and regions, including students from the University of Nairobi and Hunan Normal University, took part in the Autumn 2022 Graduation Ceremony held Thursday 26th January at the Discovery Hall in the Global Square Building.

During the ceremony, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Tashiro presented a message from Daisaku Ikeda, Soka University's founder. In his message, the founder called out, “My deepest congratulations on starting this victory song of youth shining with wisdom. The seeds of research and the seeds of hard work that you have all sown across this campus in your youthful lives will surely bloom into many flowers that will bear abundant fruit. Show the indomitable spirit of the creation of value, sow the seeds of the friendship of the people of Earth, and spread a garden of peace across the stages of your missions.”

After the course certificates were presented, exchange student Louise Hill Danaidis (Cuba) and special register student May Sue Pan Zaw (Myanmar) gave speeches.
Louise Hill Danaidis said, “The more I studied, the more I became interested in this university, these people, and this society. I made friends and built bonds as strong as a family, and was able to enjoy the best time here. Thank you so much.”
May Sue Pan Zaw said, “The experiences I fostered at Soka University are a treasure in my life. I would like to repay those that took care of me by using what I learned during my study abroad. From here on out, I’ll carry the pride and knowledge of being a Soka University student with me as I push myself further.”

Lastly, President Masashi Suzuki let out a cheer saying, “Bless everyone who worked to make this graduation ceremony a reality during these difficult times affected by the coronavirus. From here on out, you will all be alumni of Soka University. For you to go forth and create value in your home countries with fellow Soka alumni—that is my deepest desire!”
