Soka University ranked 6th (2nd in the Tokyo metropolitan area) in "Internationality" in THE Japan University Ranking 2023

On Thursday, March 23, TES Global, the operator of the British higher education magazine "Times Higher Education (THE)," in cooperation with Benesse Group, released "THE Japanese University Rankings: Japan Edition 2023. Soka University was ranked 74th overall (24th among private universities), including 6th (2nd in the Tokyo metropolitan area) in the area of "Internationality," the fourth consecutive year in which the university has ranked in the top 10.

The ranking consists of 16 items in four areas: educational resources, educational fulfillment, educational achievement, and internationality, and is designed to measure the educational ability of universities in terms of student growth and learning outcomes, in addition to evaluations by high school faculty and corporate personnel.
The ranking in the area of internationalization, in which Soka University was ranked 6th, was calculated based on the results of the "ratio of foreign students," "ratio of Japanese students studying abroad," "ratio of courses offered in foreign languages," "ratio of foreign faculty members," and other factors.
Since its establishment, the university has been working to nurture "creative world citizens" who can create new value on the global stage, and under the "Support for the Creation of Top Global Universities" program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, adopted in 2014, the university is promoting the expansion of sending Japanese students abroad and accepting international students, improving the international compatibility of its educational programs, and globalizing the university's internal governance through cooperation among various departments. The interim evaluation of the project showed that the first round of the project was successful, and the second round of the project was successful. In the first (announced in February 2018) and second (announced in March 2021) interim evaluations of the project, both received an "S" rating, the highest ranking. We will continue our efforts to realize an internationally rich campus where diverse students can learn from each other.
