The Soka University Makiguchi Foundation for Education International Students Scholarship Awarding Ceremony for the 2023 academic year was held on Tuesday, May 9th, at Discovery Hall.
This scholarship aims to support foreign students (preparatory courses, undergraduate, and graduate) who face financial difficulties in pursuing their studies. It was established with the assistance of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation.

Following the certificate presentation by Chaiperson of the Board of Trustees Yasunori Tashiro, two students, Meng Da from China (4th year, Faculty of Law) and Ghetti Flore Ludivine from France (2nd year, Graduate School of International Peace Studies), expressed their aspirations.
Mr. Meng said, "Thanks to my family, university staff, and supporters, I can dedicate the most crucial time of my life to my studies. I will devote myself wholeheartedly, refine my expertise, and acquire the skills necessary to thrive in society."
Ms. Ludivine stated, "Without the support of this scholarship, I don't think I would have had the opportunity to study alongside all of you here. While studying with fellow international students from around the world, my perspective has broadened, and the range of my values has significantly expanded."

From President Takanashi of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation, it was introduced that the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation was established by President Daisaku Ikeda with the aim of inheriting the great life of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, the father of Soka education, and fostering individuals who will contribute to the happiness of people and the peace of the world. President Takanashi expressed his expectations, saying, "Each of you international students, through your studies and research at Soka University, bears a significant mission to contribute to the 'happiness of humanity' and the 'peace of the world,' following in the footsteps of the great legacy. The founder, President Ikeda, has infused this scholarship with his heartfelt desire to support each and every one of you."

Lastly, President Masashi Suzuki concluded by sending his encouragement, saying, "I sincerely hope that you will never forget your gratitude to all those who support you, and that you will wholeheartedly learn alongside your peers on the global campus of Soka University. I wish for each of you to leap forward and become global citizens who create value on your respective stages in the future."
