The establishment of the Department of Business, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (tentative name) is under consideration for April 2026

    Soka University plans to establish the Department of Business, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (tentative name) in April 2026 as a scheme to integrate and developmentally reorganize the studies of the Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Business Administration.

    The Department of Business (tentative name) in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration offers education based on the philosophy of "humanism," which aims for the happiness of both oneself and others. There will be three main concentration (course models): "Global Leadership Concentration," "Business Design Concentration," and "Financial and Professional Study Concentration." The curriculum is designed to hone expertise through theory and practice. The department aims to develop human resources who can create new value in various fields and solve social issues in response to diversified social changes.

    ■Features of the Department of Business, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (tentative name)
    ○ Hands-on workshops to develop new leadership skills that make the most of each individual

    Leadership education centered on humanism will be offered. From the spring semester of the first year to the spring semester of the second year, students will learn through hands-on workshops that address actual issues at companies and in the community and develop leadership and team building skills. In the fall semester of the second year, students will move on to specialized seminars, where they further develop leadership skills that can be applied in society and enhance their expertise based on their learning.

    ○Three study concentration and a wide variety of subjects to expand future possibilities
    Students can choose from three concentration of study: Global Leaders, Business Design, and Finance and Professional Study. In addition, from the spring semester of the second year, eight subject groups (modules) combining economics and business administration subjects are offered for each theme, allowing students to deepen their interests and combine different fields of study to acquire a wide range of knowledge for their future.

    ○ A learning environment where students can acquire useful English skills
    Classes are offered for each level of English proficiency, providing an environment in which students can develop practical English skills based on their current proficiency and motivation. Students can also hone their global English skills through a variety of programs, including selective English classes for those who wish to study abroad for longer periods, semester-long study abroad programs at the Faculty’s partner business schools, and short-term study abroad programs in Hawaii and the UK.

    ○ Special Programs to Foster Global Competitors (HOPE)
    As elective special program (HOPE) will be implemented to nurture leaders who can contribute to the global economy and local communities. By learning high-level economic theory early and in small classes, and by deepening their knowledge of business administration, students will be able to engage early in learning that is relevant to their own interests and with their careers in mind.
