The Fifth Annual Conference on Global Higher Education at Lakeland University Japan

On June 9th, 2018 the Lakeland University Global Higher Education Conference was held with diverse discussion on education with a global perspective in Japan and around the world. Presentations covered many aspects of global higher education, including global competency, education policy, research practices, foreign language education, classroom diversity, cross-cultural communication, and peace studies. The conference posed the following question,
“As educators, we understand that teaching extends far beyond everyday classroom activity. Yet, we might not often think critically about how our extracurricular lives influence our approaches to pedagogy. How do instructors and departments utilize research to focus their efforts to meet the challenges of global education?”

To address these diverse topics in global higher education ten Soka University students, including two recent graduates, from Dr. Maria Guajardo’s Leadership Seminar presented a total of four presentations:
       a.Humanistic Education and Ethical Leadership
       b.Global Higher Education and the Value of Happiness
       c.Educational Leadership in Brazil: Resonant Leadership and Adaptive Leadership for Social Change
       d.Leadership Identity Development in College-Aged Females: A Student Perspective
Deputy Vice-President Guajardo also presented:
