The Third Academic Conference on East Asian Peace and Community with a Shared Future for Mankind - Daisaku Ikeda Peace Symposium* was held

On Saturday, March 9, The Third Academic Conference on East Asian Peace and Human Community with a Shared Future - Daisaku Ikeda Peace Symposium* was held at Changchun Normal University in China and was attended by Soka University President Masashi Suzuki and Professor Xiaobo Cong from Ikeda Research Institute of Soka Education.

 

This Symposium was organized by Changchun Normal University and the China-Japan Historical Society* with support from Soka University. It was held for the third time, under the theme Peacebuilding and Human Prosperity in East Asia*, and 124 researchers participated from 27 universities and institutions, and a total of 60 research papers were submitted.

 

In his address at the Opening Ceremony, President Suzuki praised the advancement and achievements of Ikeda Research in China and mentioned that this year marks 50 years since Mr. Ikeda first met the Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai. He also talked about building a peaceful society through the expansion of solidarity.

 

The Keynote speech was given by Professor Cong, under the title Ikeda and China-Japan Friendship* and she highlighted the spread of Ikeda’s ideologies in China and its characteristics.

 

This was followed by breakout sessions, where Ikeda researchers from various countries presented their arguments and engaged in lively discussions.
