The cherry blossom trees on our campus will be lit up [April 1st to 6th (planned)]

There are about 2,500 cherry trees on our campus, including "Somei-yoshino", "yaezakura" and "weeping cherry trees", and the tree-lined path from the main gate to Ikeda Auditorium ("Sakura Road") will be lit up. The period is from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm from April 1st (Tuesday) to April 6th (Sunday) (planned).
Our university campus is home to a wide variety of cherry blossoms, including the famous ornamental Somei-Yoshino, the Kanhizakura which begins to bloom as early as late February in some years, the Oshimazakura, whose leaves are used to wrap sakura mochi (cherry rice cakes), the Edohigan, which is said to be highly ornamental because its leaves open after the flowers bloom, and the Yamazakura, a representative species of wild cherry tree.
During this time of year, you can see people strolling around with cameras in hand, or enjoying the view with their families or in groups. Come and enjoy the fantastic night view of the cherry blossoms (alcohol consumption is prohibited).
