Overview of GCP

This is a global citizenship program that supports students who aim to play an active role in the international community. Students hone their English and thinking skills through inquiry-based learning that will be useful in any field they choose to pursue in the future. Graduates go on to top graduate schools in Japan and overseas, find employment in global companies, and go on to become lawyers, diplomats, certified public accountants, civil servants, teachers, and many other career paths.

At GCP, we aim to provide students with the English skills required for studying abroad at a graduate school, as well as the advanced English communication skills required for employment at global companies and international organizations both in Japan and overseas. In addition to intensive training in the four language skills, we also provide comprehensive English study through problem discovery, problem solving, and communication, so that students can reach the level of being able to study specialized subjects in English-speaking countries while remaining in Japan.

All students can participate in overseas training through scholarships that do not require repayment!

GCP provides full travel and training expenses and provides students with a two-week overseas training program in conjunction with their classes. The program focuses on solving problems in developing countries, and based on the detailed research and discussions that students undertook in the second semester of their first year, students will hone their practical skills through data analysis, discussions, and presentations under the guidance of professors from local universities during the fieldwork.

Hone practical problem-solving and proposal skills that will be useful in a global society!

In GCP classes, students hone their practical problem-solving and proposal skills that will be useful in a global society. They comprehensively grasp and analyze the issues facing the world (climate change, environmental issues, energy issues, etc.). They then pose their own questions about social issues and propose solutions to society.

Acquire the data analysis skills necessary to understand the current state of society and make decisions!

At GCP, you will learn the basics of the Python language, which is useful for data processing and analysis, and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, which are essential for data science talent. You will also be trained to use statistics to interpret social phenomena through data. You will hone your data analysis skills, which will be highly effective when planning and considering business strategies and government policies.

We have a comprehensive support system, including opportunities to talk with alumni who are active around the world and a one-on-one mentoring system with senior GCP students!

Events, meetings, and mentoring programs held outside of class are also features of the GCP. We provide opportunities to deepen your career and seek advice, such as the "GCP General Assembly" held twice a year, where you can interact with alumni who are active on the world stage, and one-on-one mentoring programs with SAs (Student Assistants).

Make your dreams come true! GCP students take diverse paths to spread their wings and fly out into the world!

Many of our graduates have gone on to prestigious graduate schools both in Japan and overseas, gained employment at top companies in the industry, and passed prestigious civil service exams such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specialist position and national civil service general position, as well as the bar exam and certified public accountant exam. Regardless of whether they have studied abroad or not, their language skills are highly valued at their employers, and they are active internationally, being assigned to departments where English is used on a daily basis in their work, or studying abroad using their employer's overseas dispatch system. They also use English as a tool to advance to graduate schools in Japan and overseas, and present papers written in English at international conferences.

Popular articles

Miki Sato studied at Soka University with the goal of "respecting and saving the lives of people around the world" and is currently working for the Japanese Red Cross Society. Using the language skills and ability to work with others she developed during her university days in the Global Citizenship Program (GCP), she is devoting herself to projects that protect the dignity and happiness of people's lives both at home and abroad.
